The ground’s bearing capacity being inferior to recognized norms, we had to drive piles into it. This delayed the start of building foundations for two months, but Gératek managed to deliver the 10,ooo square-foot building by December 15.
The first of two structures to be erected at this location, the office building for the Complexe des Nations allowed to revitalize an industrial sector in downtown Sherbrooke. It comprises four levels including an indoor parking, and houses, among others, FTQ offices.
“The client chose an all-concrete structure. This is a process that is more costly to build but the building is more durable, and can be fitted in several different ways since there is a reduced number of pilings on the inside.”
